At present, there are many views on the selection of oil supply for gear transmission in various countries. The empirical value, empirical calculation formula and conditional calculation formula are used in parallel. It is not difficult to find that the oil supply quantity of the gear transmission under the same operating condition is not the same with different viewpoints of oil supply. Therefore, the lubrication and cooling effects of the gear transmission (e.g. resistance to gluing, resistance to pitting, vibration, noise and transmission efficiency) are also different. One of these phenomena is worth our reflection, that is, under certain conditions (such as low speed and small size transmission), the oil supply point of view is very close to the oil supply, lubrication and cooling effect is also very good, generally can be from the tooth surface out of the total heat of more than 90. In other words, most of the oil supply point of view, can obtain satisfactory lubrication and cooling effect.
However, under another condition (such as high speed and large size transmission), the amount of oil supply stipulated by each oil supply point of view is very different, and some are even more than ten times different. The lubrication and cooling effects of gear teeth are also very different. Some oil supply points stipulate that the amount of oil delivered from the tooth surface is less than 30 of the total heat. This means that the oil supply has lost practical significance. From the above two phenomena can be explained, each oil supply point of view has certain limitations. Because there is no scientific way to analyze and evaluate the various viewpoints of oil supply, the choice of oil supply for gear transmission is still in a state of confusion. In particular, it has been a bad influence on the design, test and application of gear transmission in our country.
